Brain Development

Brain development begins before birth and continues through adulthood. The basic architecture of the brain is influenced by a myriad of factors, including relationships, experiences, and the environment. Our understanding of the complex architecture of the brain allows us to remediate, enhance, and enrich a child’s social-emotional and learning experiences.

Child Psychology

Cognitive, emotional, and social capacities are inextricably intertwined and develop throughout our lives. Social and emotional competencies provide a strong foundation for emerging cognitive abilities, and facilitate brain architecture. Our background in child psychology allows us to understand the ‘whole child’ and formulate a plan to optimize social-emotional development.

Education

Beyond parenting, school is the most important platform for a child’s development. Our understanding of students’ learning aptitudes within the context of their experiences in school allows us to formulate a plan to maximize their academic potential.

Diagnostic Precision and Accuracy

The neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of learning, behavior, and social-emotional abilities with a focus on how these factors relate to brain development.  The assessment also provides diagnostic impressions with the ability to answer the 'why' question of the problem.  Testing usually examines the following areas:

  • General intellectual abilities

  • Academic Skills

  • Receptive and Expressive Language

  • Memory

  • Attention and Executive functioning

  • Motor, graphomotor, sensory skills

  • Social and Emotional development

In addition, a thorough developmental history and parent interview, as well as data from your child’s teacher, tutor, and related specialists are also usually obtained. Each evaluation is tailored to the specific concerns and needs of your child.
